Dental crowns are used to strengthen teeth, restore them to natural shape/size, cover implants, protect weak teeth, & cover discoloration. Ehance your smile with a crown.
What are Crowns?
Sometimes a tooth has broken or is badly decayed and has minimal tooth structure remaining. In circumstances such as these a crown is often the best treatment of choice to rebuild the shape of the tooth and to add long-term strength to it. Crowns can also be used to accomplish cosmetic dentistry when patients are unhappy with the shape, color, and position of their teeth.
Single-Visit Crowns using CEREC® Technology
In our office crowns are usually a single visit procedure. This can be accomplished using state of the art Cerec technology. With this technology we are able to use a digital scanner to scan the tooth to be crowned, the adjacent teeth and the opposing teeth. This allows us to make a virtual model of your mouth and make the crown during the same visit as the preparation.
Advantages of CEREC® Technology
This technique has several advantages. The first is that there is no need to use goopy impression material. There is also no need to wear a temporary crown for up to two weeks while an outside lab fabricates the crown. The final advantage of Cerec technology is there is no need for a second visit to have the crown cemented in place. Using this technology allows us to cement the crown on a tooth that is still numb and therefore the crown can be cemented without any sensitivity.
